Many of you wonder what the purpose of our student government is. The job of the Undergraduate Student Government Association is to represent the student body. In various situations, your USGA will be your link to the university administration.
During the last months, the executive council has been working tirelessly on different tasks including planning and organizing Freshman Orientation, a Freshman Week that took place in the month of September and that featured activities including panel discussions, a nighttime cruise, karaoke, and a movie screening. Within the last weeks, your USGA elected members have been meeting in order to make our annual homecoming a big success.
However, the efforts of the USGA alone are not sufficient to make Homecoming a success; your participation, involvement, and motivation are a must in order to show the community what the University of the District of Columbia is all about. This year, our Homecoming will be celebrated from October 21 to October 28 and your participation is highly requested.
Not only has the USGA put all its efforts together to provide UDC students with educational and enjoyable activities, the Vice President, Racquel A. Layne, has convened the first senate meeting at the beginning of this semester. The Treasurer, Tanesia C. Brown, has also been working diligently finalizing the budget for the Undergraduate Student Government Association and the different committees that fall under USGA. Secretary of USGA, Antonio Marin Dietens, has been keeping records of all USGA activities. Students have the right to review minutes of the USGA Executive Council meetings, which are available in the Secretary's office (Building 38-A22). The different tasks of the USGA are supervised by Sean Fuller, USGA President for academic year 2008-2009.
If you have any comments, concerns, or suggestions that you want to address to one of your executive council members, feel comfortable to direct yourself to the Student Government lounge located in Building 38 suite A-22.
